Re: Brockway erection truck B666 6T 6x6
Hello Worth,
The Bundeswehr didn't take the Brockway B666 in service. In the early years of the Bundeswehr the Faun conpany had started tests with a Faun L 912/21 6x6 type what was combined with the erection unit of the B666. But the Bundeswehr did not choose this truck.
Transporting the bridge was the job of the Magirus Jupiter, as far as I know.
Regards
Heinz

Hello Heinz
When you say Magirus Jupiter, was the 4x4 (maybe the A6500) or the 6x6 versionwhich came in 1960?
Thanks for your help.

Hello Worth,
A 6500 or Jupiter, - I can't give you the correct answer on your question. But you should consider that the German Forces needed a couple of years to complete their troops and their equipment after their foundation. So I don't know in which year the bridge went into service in Germany. Possibly the German engineering corps already drove the Jupiter at that time.

Re: Brockway erection truck B666 6T 6x6
Hello, the M 328 A1 was used most of the Time. These Trucks were bought after the Frg First refused them because they wanted to buy domestic Trucks. No Bridge Trucks were chosen in Time so around 200 were bought. In the very early Days the M2 and the Cl 60 were only partly mobile on a few Trucks on Loan from Us Units, A 6500s and an single M 328 from the Nash List accepted for Trails. The M 328 A1 were used until the mid Sixties. The Panzeraufklärungsbn never used Rhode US Bridges, they got the German SBB when they got availible
Cheers Sören.
P.S. There is an Model of the 800 Series Truck by Hk, you can convert it in an M 328 A1 by using an M 54 Cab.
