Re: Galerie Ian Simpson - Aircraft
Hi Andreas
My son has a friend with a 3D printer so I used some software called 'Tinkercad' to create some basic wheel shapes and had him make me some, then I just created the undercarriage with some brass rod and tube. I find I just like the planes to have wheels rather than looking like they are flying all the time.

Re: Galerie Ian Simpson - Aircraft
Hi All. Here is the SMT F-16 as originally made by Norman Buschmann and now realised as a model that we can all make. I am not sure of all the people involved but special mention to Thomas Eberle for the excellent decals ( a feature missing from the latest Trident resin aircraft). The model can be made as either a F16A or F16C - they have different tails and air intakes and the parts are marked as such and there is a large range of under wing stores so should keep most people happy. There is only one canopy so be careful not to damage it and I found my one to be pretty close to the shape already so not much adjustment needed with it. The other thing to be aware of is that the model will not sit flat on its own and I got around this problem by adding weight by drilling 2x 10mm holes in the body under where the air intake is glued so that it is hidden and filled it with some 'Liquid Gravity' beads and this has easily righted the tipping problem. All the parts fit well together and anyone who has had previous experience of resin airplanes from Trident or Y-Modelle will have no problem with this model. The decals provided allow you to make a USAF F16A from Hill air force base in Utah or a USAF F16C from Spangdahlem AFB in Germany and are well printed and have a thin carrier film. The set I had did originally have a problem with the Lo-Viz US Insignia but this will have been sorted out by now, the insignia on this model are some spare 1/72 I had so are slightly larger than the ones that will come with the kit.
Norman informs me that the kit should sell for about 35 euros which compares favourably to other manufacturers products and hopefully some enterprising individual can be persuaded to make further decals for other air forces given how many countries fly F16's I am sure there could be a demand for them.
